Another early morning began with a working breakfast to review Tuesday's meetings. Soon enough, we were on the road to Rabat.
First up was the International Organization for Migration (IOM). There we learned about how this UN body works to assist vulnerable people in Morocco and across the region. That was followed by a working lunch with Moroccan journalists covering a range of internal security issues. They offered to write a piece on the SAIS visit and we are looking forward to our newfound fame.
Last, we met with a leading academic at Rabat’s International University who focuses on Moroccan migration issues. His fresh take on the high costs of borders and the need to promote free movement for all people will be useful in balancing our final research memos and recommendations. He was also quite helpful in setting up additional meetings with contacts in Rabat and Tangier.
Looking forward to another packed day tomorrow!
